Troop 391 is busy as bees these days!
We have a "Survivor" camp out coming up where the boys will test their skills in wilderness survival and pit one patrol against the other in skill competitions. We will be working with the Pack to collect food for the needy on February 18 with our annual "Scouting for Food" Drive.
Sunday, February 12, is "Scout Sunday" where we'll join the congregation in fellowship.
Over Spring Break we will be traveling to New Mexico to see Carlsbad Caverns, White Sands, Philmont, and an extinct volcano.
Of course, all this activity takes money so we will be doing several fund raisers like our Camp Card sales where $5 gets you a card with discounts you can use all year long and $5 off your groceries at Kroger's so the card becomes free.
We will also be holding our Fish Fry at the heritage Jubilee again this year. Costs to run this continue to rise so I'm not sure how much longer this will continue to make economic sense. Space rental alone went from $150 last year to $200 this year not to mention the cost of fish, etc... One way or another though we will continue to do our best to provide the youth of Terrell with a fun and exciting program.
The approximately 40 children of the deployed troops include infants through 13-year-olds. The Cub Scouts have placed a large bin in the entrance of the Fellowship Hall to collect the new, unwrapped, toys. They will wrap them when they take them to the recipients. Monetary donations will also be accepted at the Church Office and the scouts will purchase the gifts. The deadline for all donations is Thursday, December 8. For more information, please contact Patrick or Alisson Lewis, or Launny Thies.
