Cub Scouts request items for a “Deploy of Toys”
The Cub Scout Pack of First UMC wants to play Santa for some special children this Christmas. When they learned from their leader and church member, Lt. Patrick Lewis, that a Seagoville unit of U.S. Army troops are deploying before Christmas in route for Afghanistan, they decided to gather gifts of toys for their families and call the project, "Deploy of Toys."
The approximately 40 children of the deployed troops include infants through 13-year-olds. The Cub Scouts have placed a large bin in the entrance of the Fellowship Hall to collect the new, unwrapped, toys. They will wrap them when they take them to the recipients. Monetary donations will also be accepted at the Church Office and the scouts will purchase the gifts. The deadline for all donations is Thursday, December 8. For more information, please contact Patrick or Alisson Lewis, or Launny Thies.
The Cub Scouts also want to thank the First UMC congregation for their support of their pie fundraising project which raised $500 that will help a needy family this Christmas.
