Great Day of Celebration
We held a “Great Day of Celebration” on Jan. 31, 2010, marking the dedication of the new roof for the church’s historic 110 year old sanctuary. Restoring the roof to its original appearance was a herculean task with a comparable price tag. Initial estimates put the price tag at $500,000. “We underestimated the power of God and the commitment of the congregation,” said Steering Committee chair John Davidson. Commitments ultimately totaled $430,000. Construction began in June, 2007, and was completed the following January. The total note was paid in full in one year and nine months. On the dedication Sunday, the congregation celebrated God’s grace and their own commitment.
